Tapkeshwar Temple in Dehradun
Tapkeshwar Temple in Dehradun, also known as Tapekshwar Mahadev Temple, is one of the most famous temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated by the forest side, the main shivalinga at the temple is inside a natural cave. Water drops from the ceiling of the cave trickle down over the shivalinga in a continuous downpour, making for an interesting spectacle.
History
Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple is situated on the bank of a river that adds to the beauty of the holy place. One of the oldest Shiva lings is in the cave nearby where the river enters and water drops drip down on the Shiva ling. The small cave with this splendid scenery is said to be once resided by Dronacharya- the teacher of Pandavas and Kauravas in Hindu holy epic Mahabharata written by Ved Vyas. The cave is named Drona Cave after his name.

Drive towards Dhanaulti 55 kms away from Mussoorie situated at an altitude of 2286 mts above sea level on Mussoorie-Chamba Road.Later sightseeing tour of Dhanaulti covering - Eco Park, Surkanda Devi temple, Potato Farm,Deogarh fort,Barehipani and Joranda Falls.Dhanaulti is the launching point for numerous treks into the snow-capped Himalayas.Return to Dehradun for onward journey. Sir Hotel at Chopta is very difficult for senior citizens to climb.One more suggestion if possible provide accommodation to drivers.Otherwise the tour was ok. Driver was polite and expirenced.Arihant Hotel at Haridwar was very good.I wish to continue travelling with your company.
